MAURICEVILLE COUNTY COUNCIL.

(Fom Our Own Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Mauriceville County Council was held on Saturday. There were present -Crs Dagg, Jackson, Heckler, Perry, and Kummer. An apology for absence was received from Cr Wall. Cr H. J. Dagg was appointed to represent the Council at the election of the Wellington Harbour Board on February 10th. It was resolved that the chairman an I the overseer should arrange for three weeks work to be done on Ihtiraua Valley Koad, and that Cr Dagg and the overseer get the large culvert at Judd's frontage renewed at once, the present dry weather giving a specially favourable opportunity for doing the work. It was reported that many of the bridges have required constant watching during the month, owing to the fires placing them in danger. It was decided that a substantial gate should be put up at the entrance to the quarry, on the Mangamahoe Road, racently purchased from Mr Heckler, and should he require a fence put round the quany and a right-of-way, the Council bear the whole expense of such. Accounts amounting to £267 3s were passed for payment.
