LICENSING OF BOOKMAKERS. RACING CONFERENCE REGULATIONS. BT TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, January 27. Regulations for the admission of bookmakers to racecourses have been issued by the Racing Conference, and are recommended to all clubs holding totalisator permits. The principal regulations provide that the amount of the fee for a bookmaker shall be fixed by each club, but no club,which gives an average of less than £4OO per diem in stakes shall charge a fee exceeding £lO per diem. Bookmakers can only transact business in the enclosure provided. Totalisator odds are prohibited, and also betting after the closing of the totalisator.., Betting on doubles is also prohibited.
