TURF NOTES.' (By "Zetland.") The newly-formed Wellington Pony and Galloway Racing Club has decided to hold its first race meeting at Mirarnar, on Saturday, February 22nd, and the programme of events is now advertised. The ifffeeting is sure to be well patronised by owners of racing ponies, and' the sporting publi: may be depended upon to attend in very large numbers. I understand it is the intention of the executive to hold frequent race meetings, and if so the ranks of pony racers will be quickly augmented, as owners will soon find the stakes well worth running for. The club has just had formed at Mirarnar a first-class racing track, and judging by the energy displayed by the promoters, a successful inaugural meeting would appear to be an assured fact Bookmakers will be licensed to ply their calling at the meeting., and wall attend an sufficiently large numbers to cops with thetdemands of backers. Very complete arrangements in connection with the -fixture ai'e in hand, andjf good acceptances are received, oatrons of the sport may confidently expert to witness spirited contest.*) throughout.
