THE KAUKAPAKAPA MURDER.
ACCUSED COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. nV TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION'. AUCKLAND, January 17. Wm. Stuart was committed for trial, at Helensville, on a chanre of having murdered Edward West, at Kaukapakapa, by striking him on the head with an axe.
' Detective Marsack, in his evidence, stated that accused frankly admitted that he killed West, and appeared to lay stress on the language used by the deceased concerning his mother. Witness, on visiting the camp occupied by Stuart and West, found two or three dozen empty spirit bottles and six large and three small beer bottles. The place appeared to have been the scene of a recent carousal. Accused reserved his defen-e.
