Carey. •The Treasurer reported accredit balance of £8 17s"8d. The Secretary of the Postal Department wrote stating that the suggestion of the Chamber that the minimum number of inland circulars posted in' quantities permitted to be prepaid in cash instead of stamps be reduced from 240 to 120, could not be given effect as the reduction made lately in the minimum number from 1,000 to 240, was as much as the Department was justified in sanctioning. Mr Dolan stated that he knew fro-- unofficial sources that .steps privately taken to float a coftipany to exploit the coal resources at Mauriceville, and it was very probable that the\ company would soon be an accomplished fact. This information was received very heartily by the members present. Mr Robinson considered that Masterton had reached a stage in its career when all the Government De-

partments should be centralised in one building instead of being scattered alt over the town as at present; When the Government were building a new Courthouse they might just as well take into consideration the question of erecting fublic buildings in the town. He moved: "That *,he Government be requested to consider the advisability of erecting ment Buildings in Masterton for the pumose of housing the various,Goverpment Departments under./'ofje roof, and that in tho opinion <c3f..this Chamber Masterton has now reached a stage in its developments when the erection of such buildings is aproper steijto be taken, and that the membex*Tor the district be requested to do what he can to furthoi\this proposal." . The motion was seconded by Mr Dolan and agreed to unanimously.
