PRIMITIVE METHODIST CONFERENCE.
>. BY'TELKGKAFH —PEESS ASSOCIATION. JJUNEDIN, January 16. : The conference was this morning principally engaged in consideration of committee reports. It was stated that there were 83 Sunday-schools in the dominion, with 603 teachers and 5,442 scholars; Connected with these were 4,349 juvenile and 1,747 adult pledged abstainers. Sunday' school finances were in credit £3Ol Is 7d. It is expected that the conference > will conclude to-night. It was resolved to hold the conference of 1909 at Auckland. A discussion took place on the recommendation of the Standing Committee that up to £J,OOO, should be expeflded on the cost connected with the exchange of the Rev. P. .0. Hurst, of Glasgow, for.Rev. W. Laycock, of Dunedin. It was mentioned that Mr Laycock would leave for England at the end of twelve months. It was decided to accept the exchange without any financial responsibility. Remits from a number of districts were considered. .* It was resolved that a Sunday school agent should be appointed in each district to report annually to the district meeting on the state ol the schools he may have visited. The following have been appointed as agents:—Auckland, Mr Moor, senr.; Taranaki, Mr Virney; Wellington, Mr Feltham; Canterbury, Mr W. Dobbs; Otago and Southland, Mr H. Guy.
