MASTERTON STOCK SALE REPORT.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co;, Ltd., report at tbair Masterton stock sale, yesterday:—We had a good yarding in sheep of all classes, but the effect of the drought and the unsettled state of the sheep market was very apparent. Bids for all lots lacked life and spirit. Any lines selling under the hammer showed a decline as compared with last month's prices. About half the catalogue had to be dealt with privately, very few at the close of the day remaining unsold. In cattle some useful lots of young steers offered, very few pens changing hands. Pigs were not in good demand, a fact mainly due to the scarcity of milk. Fat ewes made lis 6d, store ewes 9s, rape lambs 8s Id to 9s, 2-toath wethers 13s 3d, 18-month steers 50s to 555, light fat cows £4, store pijs 15s. •
