MASTERTON HOSPITAL.

MEETING OF TRUSTEES. The monthly meeting of the Trustees of the Masterton Haspital was held yesterday morning, there being present—Messrs J. B. Keith (chairman), W. Fisher, R. Brown, H. J. O'Leary, F. Vf. H. Kurnmer, J. C. Ewington, W. Harris, M. J. H. Jackson and J. J. Mead. The Treasurer reported as follows: —Receipts, £552 2s: expenditure, £494 2s 7d; balance last month, £823 16s lOd; balance at date, £BBI 16s 3d. ! The Matron reported that there were now 17 patients in the hospital. Eighteen had been admitted during the month, and 19 discharged. Mr A. J. Parton attended, on behalf of St. John's Ambulance Corps, and asked for the expenditure of 25s to improve the roof of the shed in which the ambulance brougham was kept; also that an insurance policy should be taken out on the vehicle.— It was decided to accede to the requests, and, in addition, to ask Messrs J. H. Pauling and T. Wagg to report on the condition of the brougham. Dr Hosking reported that *here was at present a patient in the hospital who was not sufficiently unwell to remain there, but was not yet suitable for admission to the RennalSolway Home. He was occupying accommodation which might be given to "some other more serious case, and the staff did not know how to act. —A brief discussion took place on the position of the Trustees in this matter, and it was eventually resolved to again communicate with the Benevolent Society, asking them to take steps to get the patient referred to admitted to the Home. A committee, consisting of Messrs Lwington, Brown, Jackson, and the Chairman, was appointed to frame the estimates for next year, and to take into consideration the question of increasing the salaries of the senior nurses, as reported upon by the Matron. Sub-committees were also appointed to attend to some defects in connection with the drainage of the nurses' quarters in the new building, and to consider and report on the Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act Amendment Bill. Mr Kurnmer gave notice to move, at the next meeting of the Trust, that the future meetings be held in the new hospital. Mr Brown was appointed visiting member for the month.

Accounts amounting to £725 13s ZC were passed for payment.
