PUBLIC SWIMMING BATHS.

AMENDED REGULATIONS. Matters in connection with the Public Swimming Baths in Dixon Street occupied a good deal of time at the meeting of tin Borough Works Committee last evening, and a number of citizens were present by invitation. An alteration was made in the schedule of hours, which permits that ladies may now use the baths on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and men from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.; on Thursdays ladies from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and men from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; and on Sundays ladies from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. The houi'3 on other days remain the same as formerly. It was decided to provide three additional dressing rooms for ladies, a shower bath, hand rail round the sides, life buoys, to mark the depths plainly on the sides at each end, and to provide a seat along the south bank. The fees were reduced from 3d to 2d in the case of all persons over 14 years of age, and it was agreed to supply towels and trunks to bathers where required at a charge of Id for each article. It was considered that the present schedule of hours was sufficiently elastic to meet the requirements for school boys, but if it were found that su'ih was not the case, the schedule would be amended. The committee resolved to concrete the footpaths and the floor of the shed around the basin with its own staff, and gave orders for the pos'.ing of notice boards warning persons of prosecution if found trespassing in the "vicinity of the baths without lawful excuse. Mr and Mrs Fells, acting custodians, were appointed to the position nnr.il the end of the season at a weekly wage of £2 103. All the foregoing regulations are subject to revision as occasion may require.
