SKY-SCRAPER ON FIRE.
BURNS FOR HOURS. THREE FIREMEN KILLED; MAUY INJURED. Received January 13, 8.19 a.m. NEW YORK.. January 12. A tliirteon-storey ''sky-scraper," known as "Parker's Building," fronting Fifth-avenue and 19th Street, New York, burned for fourteen hours. Three firemen 'were killed and twenty-five injured. The"' damage is estimated at £300,000. Rotten hose pip«s and inadequate water pressure handicapped the firemen. The Board of Fire Underwriters recently longed a complaint that ha'f the Fire Department's hose in New York was useless.
