NORTHERN TOURNAMENT. CHAMPIONSHIP WON BY CARLTON. BY TEIiEOIIAPH —I'ItESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, January 10. Carlton beat Hastings by 46 to 45, and won the Bowling Tournament. Gisborne beat Hastings for second place by 34 to 33. The prize for the club having the least number of points scored against them was won by Gisborne, but as they were placed in the championship they were ineligible for tie prize according to the conditions, and Mount Eden (Auckland) Club won with 318 points against them. Gisborne had only 314 points scored against them. The preliminary heats in the Citizen's Matin were contested, and the semi-finals will be reached to-morrow. The following won today:— Remuera (2), Gisborne, Kelbiirne, Auckland, Newtown, Feilding, Ponsonby, Wanganui, Palmerston North, Wellington, Thorndon, Mt. Eden, Manaia, Greenmeadows, New Plymouth, Waverley, Victoria and Turanganui.
