Charge of Ingratitude.

THE DISCARDING OF VR SLATER. DUNEDIN, January 9. Replying to a charge that workers had shown ingratitude in discarding Mr Slater, the executive of the Otago Trades Council says:-—"Mr Slater had without doubt done his best on the Arbitration Court for the side he represented, but we are convinced some - one else can do better for us. •We consider we are at perfect liberty to make the change, and it ill becomes irresponsible people to take us to task and accuse us of ingrati- ' tude towards Mr Slater. The workers have allowed irresponsible people to do the thinking for them too long, and if anything was required to convince us of the wisdom of making a change it is the nonsensical utterances of these people."
