" Lecturing at Hartford, Connecticut, Captain • [Hobson, of Santiago Bay renown, declared that America had been taking the back-water from Japan. Now only one thing remains before war. On any pretext America must refuse to let the crisis arise until the fleet reaches the Far East. Captain Hobson added: "It is doubtful if it can even get there." Considerable indignation is expressed at such "jingoism."
