. ELECTRIC LIGHT AND TRACTION VALLEY. BY TELEOKAPH —PEE3S ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, January 9. A meeting of representatives of the Lower Hutt and Petone Boioughs, and also residents of the Hutt Valley,, was held this evening to consider the prospects of installing a system of electric traction and lighting to serve tho Hutt Valley. A proposal was submitted to -the meeting estimating the cost of the joint scheme at £BO,OOO, and providing for a sinking fund and contingencies. An offer was made by a number of gentlemen interested in the district, that if the scheme as outlined were undertaken by corportions interested they would be prepared to guarantee up to £20,000 to provide for any loss incurred during the operations of the first ten years. After, the matter had been discussed the meeting decided' to refer the proposal to a joint committee with power to obtain expert advice, and to report to a subsequent meeting to be held within three weeks' time.
