FANNING ISLAND.
PURCHASE BY FATHER ROUGIER CONFIRMED. Received January 8, 9.55 p.m. LONDON, January 8. Confirmation has been received of the report that Father Rougier, head of the Marist Mission, at Suva, had purchased Fanning Island. The Pacific Cable Board think that it will be , advantageous if Father Rougier would send settlers to the island.
