CARTERTON.

From Our Own Correspondent. Tuesday. The members of the Carterton Bowling Club are taking advantage of the continued fine weather by putting in some hard practice on the local green. The green, at present, is used every afternoon by the bowlers, and the games of late have been very interesting. The continued dry weather has had a very serious effect on the oat crops in the district. Very few crops have reached the height of three feet above the ground. A crop on a local farm had ripened when it was two feet high, and it could not be cut with a binder, owing to the inability of the machine to tie the sheaves together. 1 A few crops in the district, however, have reached the height of from seven to eight feet. In six weeks the supply of milk at the Taratahi Dairy Factory has decreased by about 500 gallons. The weather in Carterton, to-day, was very hot; in fact it was one of the hottest days experienced this summer.

Myrtle Grove Cigarettes are obtainable from all Masterton Tobaceonists*'.
