QUEENSLAND POLITICS.
Received January 3, 10.34 p.m. BRISBANE, January 3. Mr Philp has issued a manifesto to electors stating that the Government intend without delay to pass a measure to foster oversea transport by a subsidised line of steamers with sufficient refrigerator space to trade between Queensland, Britain and the East, via Torres Strait. It is intended to reduce the number of members of the Assembly, place the Council on an elective basis, establish a wages board, increase the old age pension to 10s weekly, and take a referendum on religious instruction in schools.
