There was capital weather for the second day of the Wellington Provincial Lawn Tennis Association's annual tournament on the Day's Bay courts. A fair number of spectators attended and witnessed some exciting play. The following won their games in the championship events: — Men's Singles.—Second round: G. Ollivier, W. Goss, J. T. Aitken, H. M. Gore, H. V. Howe. Third round: G. Ollivier, J. T. Aitken, R. Swanston, H. V. Howe. Fourth round: G. Ollivier. Man's Doubles. First round— Kirker and Watkins, Eller and Clark. Second round: Hunter and Howe, Eller and Clark, Prouse and Beere. Ladies' Singles.—Second round: Miss Williams, Mrs Hickson. Third round:—Miss E. Williams, Mrs Hickson. Ladies' Doubles.—Second round: Miss Hickson and Miss Scott. Combined Doubles.—First round: Miss Marchant and H. M. Gore, Miss Mcintosh and R. St. J. Beere, Miss Box and J. S. Wilson, Mrs Hickson and Swanston. Second round: Miss Hickson and G. Ollivier, Mrs Hickson and Swanston, Miss E. Williams and W. Goss. H. Rout won the final in the Boys' Championship Singles, beating S. Wickens, 30—27. The Girls' Championship Singles was won by J. Miller, who defeated M. O'Neill in the final, 30—14. In the handicap events the final of the Men's Handicap Singles (second grade) was worn by W. Hutchings (rec 8) who beat T. Herd (rec 4), 60 —49. NEW PLYMOUTH, January 2. Fine weather favoured the Taranaki Lawn Tennis Association's tournament, and there was a large attendance of the public. The championship events were concluded, being won as follows: Men's Singles Handicap—Parker (Sydney). Men's Doubles—Fisher and Peacock. Ladies' Singles—Miss Powdrell. Ladies' Doubles—Misses Powdrell and Gray. Combined Doubles—Miss Wellwood and Parker. The handicap events were concluded as follows: Men's Singles—H. D. Caplen. Men's Singles (second grade)—W. Reader. 1 Ladies' Singles—Miss Nunneley. Ladies' Doubles—Mrs Goldie and Miss Glasgow. The Men's Handicap Doubles and Combined Handicap Doubles are to be finished this morning, delay having been caused by the weather on Tuesday, otherwise all the events would have been concluded comfortably to-day.
