CARTERTON.

(From Our Own Correspondent). Thursday. The annual circuit picnic in connection with the Methodist Church will be held at Dalefield on Anniversary Day (January 22nd). Three picnics were held here on New Year's Day. The annual picnic in connection with the local Methodist Sunday School was held in Mr John Hart's grounds situate in Lincoln road, and proved very enjoyable. A large number of the scholars with their parents and friends were present. Mr J. A. Dudson placed his picturesque grounds in High street at the disposal of the Catholic School children' for their picnic. Croquet, tennis and cricket were indulged in during the afternoon. The annual picnic in connection with the Presbyterian Sunday School was held in Mrs Osborne's ground at Waihakeke. The afternoon was spent in rowing and bathing, and races for the children were got off.
