RACING. RANGITIKEI RACES. Br Telkgraimi—Press Association. MARTON, January 1. For the first day of the Rangitikei races the weather was fine, but a strong wind blew across the course. The track was in splendid condition, and the attendance was up to the average. Four bookmakers were present. The totalisator receipts amounted to £9,464, against £10,121 for the corresponding day last year. Results:— Scott Memorial—Catapult 1, Little Mary 2, Ballarat 3. Also started— Motoa. W ? on easily by two lengths. Time, lmin 17sec. Maiden Hack —Windage 1, Genuine 2, Mont Pelier 3. Also started —Muskerado, Saltpetre and Fond Memory. Won easily by two lengths. Time, lmin 5 4-ssec. Ohakea Hurdles —Oryx 1, Hurimoana 2. Only starters. Won by a dozen lengths. Time, 2min 54sec. Carnarvon Hack —Kareroa 1, Rangipapa 2, Signor 3. Also started— Waicola, Bonnie Doon and Yosami. Won by two lengths. Time, lmin 18 sec. Rangitikei Cup—Tangimoana 1, Nova 2, Medallist 3. Scratched— Whakawehi, LThlando, Roseal and Ballarat. A good race. Won by a length. Time, 2min 11 2-osec. Railway Hack Hurdles—Aorangi 1, Papatawa 2, Xavier 3. Also started —Compass, Maidie, Mereshot, The Leader, and Mussen. Won by two lengths. Time, 2min 52 2-53ec. Makowhai Welter —The Stake 1, Flotilla 2, Wind 3. Also smarted— Probability. Won by half a length. Time, lmin Slsec. ■ Probability was interfered with by the rider of Flotilla—G. Price-and at a meeting of the stewards he was fined .£lO and severely cautioned. Pukenui Welter Hack—Carissima 1, Buoyant 2, Windage 3. Also started—Happy Maid, Rawhetu and Mt. Cook. Won by a length. Results: — ' Railway Hack—Truganini 1, Burton 2, Royal Star 3. Also started— Dear Dolly and lseult. The two latter were left at the post and took no part in the race. Won all out: Time, lmin 18 l-ssec. Trial Trot—Early Morn 1, Star Pointer 2, Pierotte 3. Twelve started. Won by six lengths. Borough Stakes—Lady Menschikoff 1, Kilmarnock 2, Watiro 3. Also started—Oliver Twist, Ramanui, Rangikura, Wee Nannie, Tanelcahi, Valentine and Stuiho. Won easily. Time, 59 2-ssec. Stratford Cup—lmmolation 1, Uhlando 2, Rosegrove 3. AUCKLAND RACES. IJV TEIiKCKAPH- "MtKSS ASSOCIATION". AUCKLAND, January 1. The third day of the Auckland Racing Club's summer meeting took place ac Ellerslie to-day. There was a large attendance. Twenty-nine bookmakers did business. During the afternoon £22,512 passed through the machine, a decrease of £282 as compared with last year. Following are the results: — Ferguson Handicap, 6 furlongs— Loongana 1, Cadence 2, Kirsty 3. Also started—Wauchope, St. Cyrene, Octoroon, Escamello, Tunewha, Mark Time, Umdala, Strathmoira. Won easily. Time, lmin 15 3-ssec. New Year Hurdle Race, 2 miles Le Beau 1, Swagsman 2 Jnniskillen 3. Also started— Hautapu, Creusot, and Claremont. Le Beau won easily. Time, 3min 50sec. Great Northern Derby, 11 mile — Boniform 1, Downfall 2, Red Rain 3. Also started—First Gun, Dunborne. After a good race Boniform won by three lengths. Time, 2min 36 2-ssec. County Handicap, 6 furlongs— Guidwife 1, Finery 2, Maheno 3. Also started — Cambrian, Moriarty, Cyrene, Lochbuhie. Guidwife won by a head. Time, lmin ISAsec. Auckland Racing Club Handicap, 1£ mile —Zimmerman 1, Carl Rosa 2, Uhlander 3.
