KERMADEC ISLANDS.

A SCIENTIFIC EXPEDITION. WELLINGTON, December 27. The scientific party which will leave by the Hinemoa, to-morrow, for the Kermadec Islands, are busily engaged putting the finishing touches to their arrangements for the period, of twelve months' research which they are to carry out. The party consists of Messrs T. Iredale and G. E. Warden, of Christchurch; W. L. Wallace, of Timaru; W. R. B. Oliver, of Christchurch; and S. R. Oliver, of Tauranga.
