LICENSING OF BOOKMAKERS. BY TEI/EGIUni - PRESS ASSOCIATION. INVERCARGILL, December 23. The Southland Racing Club has decided that bookmakers shall be licensed at a fee of £l2 10s per day, and allowed to bet on any part of the saddling paddock or outside^ enclosures, but no bookmaker or cierk will be allowed on the grandstand or lawn. Bookmakers aire allowed one clerk each, provided the clerk is not the bookmaker himself. The clerk is not to call the odds, and the bookmaker is to produce his license or to hand over hio book when required by the stewards ur the club's officials so to do. No bookmaker is to be allowed to bet after, the notified time of starting each race.
