News has been received in Wellington from London of the death of Dr. William Logan, : of Wellington. The deceased left. New Zealand, twelve months ago with the object of studying special work. MrG. Russell, who has been with the Press Association for the past two years, has resigned his position, and is to be succeeded by Mr Will Kraig, lately of the "Marlborough Herald," who takes up his duties at Wakapuaka on December 29th. Mr.Thos. Nidd, a very old resident of Wellington, died on Sunday night, aged 76 years. The late Mr Nidd arrived in New Zealand by the ship Rajah over fifty years ago. He leaves two sons, Messrs William and Joseph Nidd, and one daughter, Mrs Lacey, of Mangamahau.
One of the earliest settlers in Nelson, Mrs Hargreaves, who landed there with her parents, the lace Mr aid Mrs McArtney, in 1842, died in that city recently.
A Press Association telegram states that the Rev. J. G. S. Bartlett, of St. Marks, Wellington, has accepted the position of V icar of St. Luke's, Oamaru.
