MASTERTON v. CARTERTON
A match between the Masterton and Carterton Lawn Tennis Clubs was played on the local club's grounds on Saturday afternoon last, and re: suited in "a win for the Masterton players by 9 rubbers to 6, 18 sets to 11, or 158 games to 130. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies of the home club, and was much appreciated by the large number of spectators and players present. MASTERTON CLUB. MEN'S HANDICAP SINGLES. The Men's Handicap Singles competition was brought to a conclusion on Saturday afternoon last, when Mr C. C. Cox, owing 40, met and defeated Mr G. G. Aitken, owing 30, by two sets to love, the games scored being 6—4 and 9—7 in the respective sets. As the score shows, the match was a very close one and aroused a considerable amount of interest amongst the spectators present. Following are the scores in the various rounds of the competition : - Ist Round.—G. G. Aitken beat N. H.James, 1-6, 6-2, 6-3; N. D. Bunting beat S. R. Gawith, 6—2, 6—5; J. G. Bee won from P. N.
