MONTHLY MEETING

The ordinary meeting of-the Masterton Trust Lands Trustees was held last evening. There were present Messrs T. B. Michell (chairman), D. Caselberg, C. E. Daniel!, T. Wagg, R. .Krahagen, W. H. Jackson, E. McEvven. * The Chairman extended a welcome back to his seat, on the Trust, to Mr Daniell, who briefly acknowledged the good feelings expresstd. _ The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £368 7s 9d. A letter was received from Mr F. H. Mcintosh applying for the use of the Town Hall for the purposes of a skating rink when not occupied by theatrical companies. He asked the Trustees to make their own terms, and offered to take all responsibility as to any damage to the Hall.—The offer was declined, as it was not consider 3 that the building was the proper place for skating.

Rev. Dean McKenna wrote complaining of the public school boys trespassing on the sections in Chapel Street leased by him from the Trust. He considered that if he was paying rent for the sections he should have the exclusive right to them. The fence had been broken, and he had kept back from the amount of his rent on the sections a sum to repair the fence. —It was resolved to allow Dean McKenna the sum kept back for repairs, and to refer that part of the letter, regarding school-boys trespassing on his. sections, to the School Committee.

The Secretary of the Masterton School Committee wrote asking the Trust to bear in mind tha promise made to the Committee with reference to leasing a cottage near the school to the Committee for the use of the school custodian, when the first opportunity presented itself.

Mr Jackson explained that the Committee wished to have the custodian residing near the school for protection to the school property.

It was resolved to lease the cottage to the Committee at an annual rental of £25.

Accounts amounting to £174 Ss Id were passed for payment.
