WAIRARAPA CRICKET ASSOCIATION.

A special meeting of the committee of the Wairarapa Cricket Association was held on Thursday evening, Mr D. K. Logan presiding. It was decided, on the motion of Mr Hart, seconded by Mr Collinge, not to send a team to play a representative match against Wellington, as it would impossible to get a full and representative team to travel. A letter was received from the West Co&st Association with reference to arranging a match with Wairarapa. It was resolved to inform the West Coast Association that the Wairarapa Association would play them at Masterton on January 23rd and 24th. Votes of thanks were accorded to Messrs W. C. Buchanan and W. E. Bidwill for donations to the funds •of the Association.

An application from Mr Coggins for a transfer from the Featherston to the Carterton Club was granted. The chairman brought up the matter of Mr W. H. L. Galwey's departure from Masterton, and expressed regret at the loss of such an enthusiast in cricket. He moved—"That this committee expresses its regret at the departure of Mr Galwey, as he has at all times been a keen supporter of cricket in the district. The committee trusts that his absence will be only temporary, and if permanent, it hopes that he will still continue to maintain his interest in the game in the' dominion." The motion was unanimously carried, after several speakers had referred iri terms of appreciation of Mr Galwey's services. The balance of the fixtures for the first round were drawn as follow :-- January 4th and 11th.—Carterton v. Masterton B at Carterton; Carlton A v. Masterton A, at Masterton; Featherston v. Carlton B, at Masterton.

January 18th and 25th—Carlton B v. Carterton, at Carterton; Masterton A*- Featherston, at Masterton; Masterton B v. Carlton, A, at Masterton.
