MASTERTON SWIMMING CLUB.
At the meeting held on Thursday evening, at which it was decided to form a Masterton Swimming Club, a large number of members were elected and several promises of support were received. The programme tfhat had been drawn up at the meeting on Wednesday evening, for the aquatic sports on January 22nd, was approved of with the addition of three club handicap events, viz., 25 yds, 40yds and 66yds. It was decide i to affiliate with the Wellingt|fy centre of the New Zealand Swimming Association, and to fix the annua' subscription at 2s 6d. The following officers were elected: —Patron, Mr D. Caselberg; president, Mr J. C. Ewington; vice-pre-sident, Messrs W. H. Jackson, A. -C. Major, G. C. Summerell, J. D. 1 Cruickshank, C. E. Daniell, J. B. Moody; captain, Mr E. Daniel; ■timekeeper, Mr Jas. Scott; secretary and treasurer, Mr S. R. Edwards; committee, Messrs W. G. Taylor, G. Cullen, E. Richards, A. P. Billington, Captain and secretary; starter, Mr W. G. Tayior. It was resolved to make an effort to secure a suitable trophy for the Wairarapa championship race of 75 yards. £fcThe secretary was instructed to write to the Wellington centre and invite a team of swimmers to compete at the aquatic sports. £ Mr A. F. Billington signified his intention of donating a gold medal to the winner of the 45 yards Club handicap at the Anniversary Day sports.
