CLAIM FOR COMPENSATION.
UY TEI.ECIiAVH —PMKSS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, December 13. In the Supreme Court Mr Justice Chapman gave his reserved judgment in the case of Mrs Young v. the City Council, a claim for compensation for the death of plaintiff's husband at the Christchurch railway station yard. It had been contended that sufficient notice had not been given of the' action. His Honour held that although the notice was defective there wee sufficient grounds in accordance with the provisions of the Act to waive the notice. The effect of his Honour's decisiin is that judgment has been entered f.)r plaintiff for £9OO damages in accordance with the jury's awa.'d.
