RATES ON AGRICULTURAL LAND.
A GRIEVANCE AND A REMEDY. Received December 12, 7.40 a.m. LONDON, December 11. Lord Carrington, President of the Board of Agriculture, speaking in London, recognised that the unfair burden of rates on agricultural land constituted a legitimate grievance on the part of English farmers. He added that with a view to ultimately dealing with local taxation on broad lines the Government intended to introduce a Valuation Bill in 1908.
