Received December 12, 10.48 a.m. MELBOURNE, December 12. At the Kauri Timber Company's annual meeting the chairman stated that the period ended had been one of the best in the existence of the company The debenture debt had been reduced to £46,000. The profits amounted to £37,398. A dividend of 5 per cent, was declared, and £7,148 carried forward. A 10 per cent bonus was allotted on the salaries of the staff. WILFUL WASTE A HINT TO SLAUGHTERMEN. Received December 12, 10.48 a.m. MELBOURNE, December 12. Dr Brown, of the Agricultural Department, estimated the loss in sheepskins alone by damage through slaughtermen using a wrong cut when skinning the animals amounts annually to £125,000, the loss by reckless branding of cattle to £300,000 yearly, and another £150,000 is lost by the reckless flaying of hides. A post-mortem examination disclosed a hatpin in Barlow's heart. Dea'-h was due to drowning.
