CRISIS IN ZULULAND.
CRITICAL STAGE THOUGHT TO BE OVER. SIR DUNCAN MACKENZIE'S WARNING. Received December 12, 7.40 a.m. DURBAN, December ,11. Though it is believed that the most critical stage of the Zulu trouble is over, the troops intend to thoroughly inspect the Usutu kraal, and visit the kraals of other suspected chiefs. The rapidity of the mobilisation amazed the natives. Hundreds saw Dinizulu escorted to Natal by police with fixed bayonets. He appeared at Nongoma before Colonel Duncan Mackenzie, who, after a private interview, with him, sternly addressed the natives and local chiefs declaring: "The Government sent me to put the country in order. You see what has already been done, and if fighting now starts it will be my business to teach a lesson not readily forgotten." The natives were strongly impressed, and the country is now absolutely quiet.
