THE FEDERAL TARIFF.
DUTY ON OREGON AND NEW ZEALAND PINE. j;y teli:uk.U'H —i-uess association. Received December 7, 9.48 a.m. MELBOURNE, December 6. The House of Representatives fixed the duty on Oregon and New Zealand pine, undressed all sizes, at 6d per 100 superficial feet. The Queensland members strongly opposed the free admission of New Zealand pine desiring to insist on the exclusive use of Queensland pine for butter boxes. Against this, it was pointed out that Queensland was importing New Zealand pine for its own butter boxes, and orders placed for Queensland pine a year ago were still unfulfilled.
