, The death occured at Scarborough \Qn Thursday last, of Mr James Sergeant. The'deceased, who was's2 years of age, took .up his residence in Scarborough about seven months ago, having previously resided in Wcodville. A wife and one son are ..left to mourn their loss. The funeral will take place to-day at the Pahiatua cemetery. At a meeting of the Pahistua County C3beil, Mr T. Hodgins, of was elected chairman for the ensuing year. An enjoyable evening was spent at Carnarvon House, last Thursday, when Mrs Marley entertained about thirty guests. Selections were played x on the lawn by the Masterton South Band, while cards, vocal items and, a Limerick competition added to the enjoyment of thost present. Mrs Buckeridge, of Kokoiau, who has been seriously ill, is now making good progress towards recovery. Mr and Mrs McGilvray, who have been on a visit to the Old Country, have returned to Carterton. A pretty wedding was celebrated, at Knox Church, yesterday morning, when Mr Alec. McLeod, of Maryborough, Victoria, and well known . in Masterton, was married to ' Miss Mary Nisbett, sister of Mrs McDougall, of this town. The bride, who was attended by Miss Ali"e Golder as bridesmaid, was given away by Mf Chas. McDougall. Mr George Creed was best man, and the ceremony was performed by the Rev. A. T. Thompson. A reception was afterwards held at the residence of Mrs McDougall, in Worksop Road, when the usual felicitous toasts were honoured. A number of costly pre--1 sents were received. Mr and Mrs McLeod left by the midday train for Napier, where the honeymoon will be spent. Pastor David Nield, of the Church ■ of God, Wellington, was married at Auckland, on Wednesday lait, to Miss R. A. Young, late of Pitcairn Island! *The Rev. J. A. Luxford officiated. Fourteen descendants of the mutineers of the Bounty were ; amongst the congregation.
