WAIRARAPA SOUTH COUNTY COUNCIL.

MONTHLY MEEIING. From Our Own Correspondent. The monthly meeting of the Wairarapa South County Council was held at the County offices, (Jai tertoti, yesterday. There were present: —Crs T. W. Moore, G. Stevens, R. G. Welch, D. Douglas, 11. S. Mason, and F. Court. Apologies for absence were received from Crs W. Perry (chairman), J. Strang and R. Barrer. Cr T. W. Moore was voted to the chair. The treasurer's statement showed the cr. balance at i the Bank of New Zealand to be £9ll 8s 9d, and the receipts since last meeting £572 Os Id. A leuferwas received from Mr H. Parata, chairman of the Rongokako Maori Council, asking for a statement of rates owing by native owners of property in the county, and stating that the Maori Council wished to undertake the collecting of the same. It was resolved that the letter lie on the table. Mr John Udy wrote asking the council to metal his road. The application was declined. A letter was received from Mr C. J. Jury inquiring about the metalling on the Ponatahi road. It was resolved that the engineer endeavour to obtain a fresh metal pit so that the work could be proceeded with. The clerk of the Masterton County Council wrote notifying the council that their engineer would report; on the proposal to erect a new swing bridge at YVaingawa at their next meeting. Cr Douglas moved that the groynes on Kaiwhata road, as recommended by the engineer, he put in. The motion was carried. Accounts amounting to £712 7s 10s were passed for payment. At the annual statutory meeting of the council held subsequently Mr W. Perry was re-elected chairman for the ensuing twelve months, and Cr Moore, actixig-chairman, Messrs W. Perry and W. M. Fisher were appointed to the Wairarapa District Hospital Board. Mr Perry was appointed to vote at the election of trustees to the Masterton Hospital, and Mr G. G. "Taylor at the election of trustees to the Pahiatua Hospital.
