OLD-AGE PENSIONS.
BRITISH GOVERNMENT MAY ACT. Received November 27, 8.34 a.m. LONDON, November 26. The Westminster Gazette states that the Government will probably in 1908 devote five or six millions to old-age pensions. GERMAN NAVY. LARGE PROPOSED EXPENDITURE. Received November 27, 7.45 a.m. BERLIN, November 26. A memorandum attached to the Naval Estimates shows that it is proposed to spend £208,600,000 on the navy during the next ten years. Half that amount will be spent on ships and armament.
A NAVAL HARBOUR. Received November 27, 8.34 a.m. BERLIN, November 26. - The Naval Estimates - include provision for a naval harbour extending 1,000 yards into the sea at the southern corner of Heligoland.
