Mr Williams, of Pahiatua, yesterday received a cablegram from Melbourne, informing him of the death of his mother. At the Presbyterian Church, Pahiatua, yesterday, Mr Ernest Jacobi, of Hastings, and late of Wellington, was married to Miss Ethel Davidson, eldest daughter of Mr D. P, Davidson, of Pahiatua. The bride was attired in a handsome white muslin dress. A large number of wedding presents were received. The wedding breakfast was partaken of at East's Central tea-rooms, after which M? and Mrs Jacobi left for Wanganui, where the honeymoon is to be spent. Mr Jacobi was the recipient of presentations from his former employers in Wellington and his fellow-employees. The Ilev. Saunders, uf Dunedin, having resigned the chairmanship of the Congregational Union, the Rev, D. Baird, of Christchurch, has agreed to accept the office. At New Plymouth, last week, Mr B. Fitzherbert, of Dannevirke, was married to Mijs E. V. Fookes, of New Mr and Mrs Fitzherbert have taken up their residence in Dannevirke. At St. Mark's Church, Carterton, yesterday afternoon, Mr Arthur Wadham, son of the late Mr Henry : Wadham, was married to Miss Alice Parker, daughter of the late Mr William Parker, of Carterton. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. R, Young.
