Mr R. Anderson, who left Masterton, yesterday afternoon if or South Canterbury, was met by das club mates of the JCia Kaha Hookey Club, prior to iris departure, and presented with a-n enlarged photograph of the members of the -club. The .presentation was made >by .the icaptain, Mr J. B. Rue, Hon. G. Fowlds, Minister in •Charge of Hospitals, will be .present at the opening of the new Masterrton Hospital on December 12th. Ma- W.. 11. Hoult, 8.A., of the Training School, Wellington, has been appointed master of the Woodville High School. At Mauricevilie, on Friday -even-ing-last, the children-of the Mauricevilie Sunday School and theiv parents ■entertained .Mr J.. Goodganie at a social. During the course of the evening Mr Goodgame was presented with a handsome writing desk in recognition of the excellent .work he had done as a teacher ,in the Sunday School. Mr R. W.. .Carpenter, -.who has been on 'tire literary 'staff of the Mew Zealand Herald for some -considerable time, and who has left Auckland -to enter into the proprietorship of .the Waimate -Witness, was recently the aiedipient of an appropriate presentation from his .confreres <on the literary and editorial .staffs iof -the Herald and Auckland Weekly News. Mr Carpenter is an ex-resident of Masterton. At a meeting l- of the executive ■committee of the Wairarapa Employers" Association, held yesterday morning, Mr S. E. Wright's resignation as secretary was accepted with regret. Mr'Caselberg, president of the association, in moving the resolution, congratulated Mr Wright <ms his removal to a larger district, and complimented him on the efficient manner in which he had carried out his duties as secretary. Mr W. M. Easthope was appointed to fill the position. Most of the Cabinet Ministers will remain in Wellington foL' a few days this week. The Hon. R. McNab will leave for the South to-morrow, to he present at the Otago show. He will return to Wellington on December 15th. The Hon. J. A. Millar will stay in the city for ten days at least, but the Hon. G. Fowlds will probably go north to-morrow or Thursday. Neither the Hon. J. McGowan nor the Native Minister has decided on his movements yet. The Premier will remain in Wellington for a few days at least. The death occurred at Bellevue Gardens, Lower Hutt, on Sunday morning last, of Mr Hugh Gully, a well-known Wellington barrister, and a member of the legal firm of Bell, Gully, liell • and Myers. Some time ago/Mr Gully was attacked by infiuenaz. He suffered a relapse a few days ago, and complications ensued which caused death. The deceased was born in Nelson in 1855, and was recognised by the profession as the ablest counsel in the dominion at nisi prius. Mr H. T. Rees has resigned his pusition as a member of the Greytown Borough Council.
