FIRE AT MARTON.
THREE BUILDINGS DESTROYED. By Telegraph—Press Association. MARTON, November 15. A fire destroyed three buildings at Marton last evening. The outbreak occurred in a large two-storeyed shop and dwelling (unoccupied) opposite J. Mather's, bookseller, which was soon destroyed. Mr Lyons' (solicitor) office, on one side, and the Sirger Sewing Machine Company's on the other were also completely destroyed. A block of buildings opposite had a narrow escape. , The unoccupied shop and dwelling had just been purchased by Mr Tingey; of Wanganui, who intended to open a branch of his business in Marton. It was insured in the Standard Office for £3OO. The Singer Company's shop, owned by Mrs E. H. Humphrey, was insured for £lo*% and Lyon's office, also owned by Mrs Humphrey, was insured for £SO, both in the Commercial Union. The Dresden piano shop was partly burned. All the stock was safely removed. The damage to the buildings on the opposite side of the street is estimated at £l5O. ,
