Mr G. Tully, who has acted for years in succession as judge at the Taratahi-Carterton Racing Club's annual meeting, has been presented by the stewards of the club with a handsome silver dinner service, as a mark of appreciation. The stewards also presented Mrs Tully with a pair -of silver vases. Mr Harry Revell, 8.A., a native of Ashburton, has been chosen by Canterbury-./yiege as its candidate for the Rhjyitftecholarship. According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, of October 2nd. E. Watkinn, of the New Zealand professional rugby team, wrenched his knee while practising at Headingley. It. was expected that he would be out of the team for a few weeks. Mr and Mrs H. Gregory, who have for many years resided at Kumcroa, intend to remove to Auckland. A Press Association telegram from Christchurch states that Mr Allan M'Lean. brother of the late Hon. John M'Lean, M.L.C., at one time owner of the Laghmor Estate, Ashburton, and of Waikouaiti, North Otago, died yesterday morning, aged 84. He was unmarried.
