PALMERSTON NORTH MILITARY TOURNAMENT.
(Special Reporter.) The annual military tournament, held under the auspices of the Mana- \ watu Mounted Rifles, took place on the Showgrounds, Palmerston North, , yesterday, and was a [great success. The weather was fine, and the attendance was very large,. There was keen competition in the various svents, and the public interest was maintained throughout the proceedings. The Masterton Rifle Volunteers sent a team under Colour-Sergeant Morton to compete in the physical drill' and bayonet exercises. In the former they secured third place, and in the latter second place, the winners in each case being the Wellington City Rifles. The following are the results of the principal events : St. John's Ambulance Competition. —Boys' Institute Cadets' No. 1 team 1, Field Hospital and Bearer Corps' No. 2 team 2. Tent Competition. Eketahuna Mounted Rifles 1, Kelburne Rifles 2, Greytown North Rifles 3. Lloyd-Lindsay Competition. ■ Feilding Mounted Rifles 1 and 2, Manawatu Mounted Rifles 3. Physical Drill. —Wellington City Rifles 1, Hutt Valley Rifles 2, Masterton Rifles 3, UTug-o'-War. Feilding Mounted Rifles 1, Eketahuna Mounted Rifles 2. Physical Drill (Cadets). — Petone High School Cadets 1, Cairpbell Street School No. 1 team 2, Campbell Street School No. 2 team 3. Bayonet Fighting. —■ Wellington City Rifles 1, Masterton Rifles 2, Palmerston North Rifles 3.
