MASTERTON TROTTING CLUB.

POSTPONEMENT OF ANNUAL MEETING. A special meeting of the M.asterton Trotting Club was held lastevening. Mr W. D. Watson occupied the chair, and there were also present : Messrs H. O'Donnell, G. H. Yates, W. Fly, W. Morris, D. McNair, J. O'Meara, R. J. Hodgins, W. Whittaker, J. Cress and J. Dixon. The chairman stated that the meeting had been called to consider the advisableness of postponing the forthcoming trotting meeting from November 14th on account of the poor nominations that had been received, and the fact that November 14th will not be a half-holiday on account of the previous Monday being a holiday. The secretary read con*espondence and telegrams he had received from the secretary of the New Zealand Trotting Conference, and MrJ.-TJ. Pollock, handicapper, on the subject. The former stated that the president of the Trotting Conference had approved of the postponement of the meeting. Mr Morris said that as a horseowner he strongly opposed postponing the meeting, and advised the stewards to go on with the trotting on the advertised date. The chairman and Messrs Yates, O'Donnell and Cress were of opinion that it would be advisable to put the meeting off until a later date. Mr Morris moved that the meeting be held on November 14th as advertised. There being no seconder the motion lapsed. It was then decided on the motion of Mr Cress that the meeting be postponed until December 19th. Mr Morris dissented from the resolution, and handed in his resignation as a steward, which was accepted. The secretary was instructed to notify the Trotting Conference of the postponement of the meeting, and return all nomination fees already received to the nominators. Fresh nominations will be invited.
