MORE BATTLESHIPS.
PRIVATE TENDERS .INVITED. Received November I, 8.45 a.m. LONDON, October 31. The Admiralty has invited private tenders for a battleship, also for the pronelling machinery of t;vvo battleships, the building of which will shortly be begun at Portsmouth and Devonport. They will he turbir.ed engined, with a speed of 21 knots. DREADNOUGHTS. Received November 1, 10.34 a.m. October 31. In connection with Ihe cable message in regard to the new Dreadnought sent on the 17th of September, it is now stated that the IS.sin gbns mentioned therein are destined for two Brazilian 21,000 ton battleships, which are in course Of construction at the Elswick and Barrow yards. (The cablegram, referred to stated, on the authority of .the London Daily Express, that a 2Q,ooo T ton battleship was to be built at Plymouth, the armament of whichiwould consist of eight 13. Sin guns as against ten 12in guns carried by the Dreadnought).
