PRICE OF FOODSTUFFS.

FURTHER ADVANCE IN FLOUR AND OATM-EAL. Flour went up £1 a ton, yesterday, says the Wellington Post. It is now £l4 f.o.b. at Southern ports. Oat meal went up £1 a ton, yesterday, and is now £lB. Wheat is at a record price in the South. In Melbourne £l2 15s is being asked for flour; in Sydney, £l2. Adelaide quotations are 5s 6d a bushel for wheat, and bran and pollard are £3 per ton higher in Australia than in New Zealand. The potato market is exceptionally firm just now, the price of old tubers being from £8 to £9 per ton in the South. A few new potatoes are arriving from Sydney, but not in sufficient quantities to keep the old ones down in price. Onions are very scarce, and are hardening in price.
