WHEAT AND FLOUR AFLOAT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Received October 30, 10.39 a.m. LONDON, October 29. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,035,000 quarters, and for the Continent 1,925,000 quarters. Atlantic shipments, 370,100 quarters; Pacific shipments, 80,000 quarters. CHRISTCHURCH PRODUCE MARKET. By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, October 30. Small business is passing in wheat, though the demand is good. Trade has been waiting for Sir Joseph Ward's pronouncement on the question of the removal of the import duty when flour has reached a figure to make the price prohibitive. Present quotations are nominal at 5s lOd to 6s, f.0.b., sacks extra. For there is keen demand, but only small offers—smaller at this time of year than for many years. Sales have been made of small parcels up to 3s 9d, f.0.b., sacks in. Owing to the nearness of Carnival week holders of potatoes are disinclined to promise delivery until the holidays are over, and supplies are therefore reduced. Sales have been made on the basis of £8 ss, but there is difficulty in securing immediate supplies at that figure. Derwents at country stations bring £7, ordinary Up-to-dates £6.
