MISSING.
A YOUNG MAN'S DISAPPEARANCE.
The Masterton police are at present engaged in endeavouring to trace the whereabouts of a young man named Ernest Ryall, who has been missing from Masterton since Saturday last. Ryall, who is 23 years of age, is comparatively a recent arrival in New Zealand, having come fromEngland and Canada, and it was only a week ago that he arrived in Masterton. Pie left the boardirg-house where he was staying at about 10 o'clock last Saturday morning, and did not take any of his belongings with him. He has a brother in Nelson, to whom, it is stated, he forwarded his bank pass-book shorcly before his disappearance, together with a letter in which he spoke of his intention to take a dose of chlorodine. Since Ryall has been missing: the police have discovered that a quantity of chlorodine was purchased at a local chemist's shop by a person answering the description of the missing man. Those who knew the missing man state that he was of a rather melancholy disposition. His brother is now in Masterton assisting in making: enquiries, and hopts are entertained that he may have gone to work on one of the stations or farms in the district. It is understood that he had made arrangements before his disappearance to go to a situation today. The missing man is nearly six feet in height, well built, and of fair complexion, with a thin, fair moustache. He weighs about thirteen stone.
