LAWN TENNIS.
MASTERTON CLUB. < > The official opening of tne Masterton Lawn Tennis Club's courts will take place on Saturday afternoon next, when members and their friends will be cordially welcomed. The match committee have classified players for the club's ladder competitions. and matches for places on | the ladder, under the ladder regulations, may be arranged for forthwith. The club has applied to the Telegraph Department to be connected with the local telephone exchange at the earliest possible, opportunity. Entries for a Club Handicap Singles Competition will be received on Saturday next, November 2nd. A match against the Thorndon Lawn Tennis Club will be played on the Masterton Tennis Club's Courts on either Saturday, November 9th, or Monday, November Uth. Mr R. N. K. Swanston, of the Thorndon Club, is arranging for a team to make the trip. The players to represent the Masterton Club will be selected by the match committee next week. A return match with the Thorndon Club will be arranged to take place in Wellington at a later date.
