STOCK MARKET.

Rose, Ltd. report as follows : During the past fortnight we have held the following sales : Monday, October 14th, Norsewood stock sale: Owing to the very bad weather, not a great deal of stock came forward. Springing heifers realised £3 3s, empty heifers 355, yearlings steers and heifers (mixed) 27s 6d. Thursday, October 24 th, Takapau stock sale: A fair entry consisting chiefly of dairy cattle came forward. Only a few lines changed hands, and the sale was conspicuous right through by the absence of buyers. Friday/October 26th, Dannevirke stock sale: A large entry of cattle came to hand, and a moderate one of sheep, and with the exception of one line of cattle we are pleased to report that every line changed hands. There was a big entry of pigs, several lines arriving at the yards very late, which is a great mistake on the part of vendors. For the future, if pigs are yarded before 12 o'clock, we can practically always guarantee a ready sale. We quote as follows:—Sheep: Ewes and lambs 24s 3d and 18s. Cattle: Fat cows £4 to £6, springing heifers £3 to £4 12s 6d, cows at the drop £2 10s to £4 17s, empty cows £2 2s to £3, 3-year-old steers £4 to £4 17s 6d, yearling steers £1 17s to £2 2s, yearjing heifers 21s to 32s 6d. Pigs: Weaners 12s to 16s, porkers 31s.
