WAIRARAPA P. AND A. SOCIETY.

A meeting of the General Committee of the Wairarapa and East Coast P. and A. Society was held on the Showgrounds, at Carterton, yesterday afternoon, when there were present—Messrs H. McPhee (in the chair), A. D. McMaster, W. B. Allen, A. J. Reynolds, J. G. McDonald, C. Campbell, J. Strang-, G. Gaskin, G. W. Deller, J. Snell, G. Stevens, R. Cooper, E. Sfegle, junr., C. Morgan, S. Cundy, D. Reid, W. Fisher, And J. M. Lightfoot. The Secretary of the Carterton United Friendly Societies' Sports Committee wrote asking for the use of the Society's grounds for the sports on Boxing Day. It was resolved that the application be granted, and that the sum of £2 be charged for the use of the grounds. The Department of Agriculture wrote suggesting that all P. and A. Societies should consider the question of allowing prizes for competition among dairy farmers in regard to cleanliness in cow-bails. It was resolved that the matter should be brought up for discussion at the annual meeting of the Society. Eight new members were elected. A letter was received from the Sanitary Inspector expressing approval of the sanitary conveniences in the Society's grounds and recommending one or two slight alterations. The Ground Committee asked for a vote of a sutn of money for further imDrovements to the tea kiosk. The request was granted. The Treasurer's statement showed a debit balance of £IBO 12s Id. Outstanding subscriptions amounted to £26 Bs. Accounts totalling £44 13s lid were passed fur payment.
