DISASTROUS EARTHQUAKES IN ITALY.

SEVERAL TOWNS PARTIALLY DESTROYED. NUMEROUS FATALITIES. Received October 25, 10.48 p.m. ROME, October 25. A disastrous earthquake has been experienced in the province of Calabria, in Southern Italy. At Ferruzzano, a village one and a half miles south of Campobasso, near Monte Leone, 200 people were killed and many injured. The cathedrals at Gerace, a town 36 miles north-east of Reggio, containing valuable works of art, collapsed. The towns of Gerace, Sinopole, Brancaleona, Santa Eufemia (a town on the Gulf of Santa Eufemia), and Bianconoro (a seaport town) were partially destroyed. Numerous fatalities are reported. The total injured number 400. Torrential rains aggravate the situation and impede the rescue work.
