TAYLOR-CARRINGTON COMPANY.

—— + "NEVER DESPAIR." The well-known Taylor-Carrington Dramatic Company opened a return season in the Town Hall, last evening, before a fairly large audience. The piece chosen for the occasion was George Comer's "Never Despair," which this combination had already successfully produced before a Masterton audience. The plot is a wellknown one. It is constructed on similar lines to those which build up the maority of melodramas. Never-1 theless, the audience maintained interest throughout, and the acting received well-merited applause. There are plenty of exciting .situations throughout the drama, and in addition the humorous side of life is not forgotten. The cast in j its main characters was similar to that upon its former presentation. To-night the company will produce an Irish play entirely new to Masterton. The Hawke's Bay Herald, in speaking of its production in Napier, said:—"Ould Ireland" is one of those dramas made up of fun, sensation, singing and dancing, of which Mr Taylor has introduced not a few to the theatre-going public of this town. It is an Irish play. Mr Taylor has made a speciality of the Irish character part, and well he does it, too. It is a comic character, but still a genuine, honest, human character, as Mr Taylor displays it.
